Future show dog?

We've been busy the last few weeks with holiday preparations, visitors, dog class for the big dogs, and life in general. Pups are doing great.  Gretchen went home to Minnesota to be with her people while the weather still allowed travel. Yesterday was the first day the pups stepped outdoors.  It was 44 degrees here.  Warmer temps expected today, then back to the deep freeze.  Potty training has been kept to puppy pads due to their young age and the extreme temperatures.

Lots of changes.  Both Rhett and Scarlett can hear-yeah! Both have two brown eyes, no blues. They have moved from the whelping box into a play area.  They are busy exploring and playing with toys. They have started to eat puppy food which has been soaked, and then put in the blender. Gretchen spends less and less time with them. 

Happy Thanksgiving! 2 weeks old

 

Pups are toddling about like drunken sailors.

 

Rhett was the first to open his eyes at 10 days old. But he was second to hear at 14 days.  Scarlett was responding to sound by 11 days. Her eyes were fully open at 13 days. Interesting to have so much variation between the two.  Differences between litters are common, but usually littermates are a day or two apart.  Hearing will be confirmed at 6-8 weeks by BAER testing.

Pups are growing so fast! They are crawling all over the whelping box.  They bark like little dogs. And they love to eat! They are constantly nursing
